RISKWORLD 2025

At RIMS’s RISKWORLD 2025 on Chicago, Mullen Coughlin Partner and Managing Member Jennifer Coughlin presents during two sessions – one on May 6 and one on May 7.

On May 6, Jenn joins Coalition’s Head of Incident Response, Chris Hendricks, on the panel “Cutting the Post-Strike Impact of Ransomware Attacks.” In the interactive tabletop exercise, Jenn and Chris walk attendees through a simulated ransomware attack to learn the ins and outs of an organization’s response to the incident, including learning the major components of an Incident Response Plan (IRP); how ransomware attacks play out; how to prepare, and ultimately recovery from an attack; and how an organization should prepare for an incident and manage risk to its data.

On May 7, Jenn is joined by AXA XL’s Global Head of Cyber Risk Strategies Timothy Smit presenting the session, “Navigating Cyber Chaos: Lessons Learned from Recent Disruption.” Jenn and Timothy provide attendees with valuable insights into recent, real-world cyber-attacks taking a deep dive into threat actor tactics; impacts on victim organizations; and lessons learned and best practices for increased cyber resiliency.

Mullen Coughlin Welcomes New Incident Response Attorney

Mullen Coughlin welcomed Zachary L. Elkwood as an Associate in its Incident Response practice group this past March. Based in New York, Zach will provide Breach Counsel services to organizations who have experienced a data privacy and security incident.

Zach brings a wealth of experience to the Firm after spending several years as the Assistant General Counsel for Compliance and Security at a large, global law firm. Focusing particularly on organizations in the Professional Services industry group sector, he has coordinated legal and regulatory responses stemming from data privacy and security incidents, as well as provided training on incident response and DFIR investigations, reviewed and negotiated cyber provisions in third-party contracts and developed guidance related to varies data privacy laws.

Zach earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and is licensed to practice in both New York and Florida.
